AC/DC Memorabilia is the Ultimate Gift

People are always looking for the Ultimate Gift for a friend or family member. What else would make a better gift than something signed by a Sport or Movie star or their favourite Musician or Band. Imagine seeing the look on their face when they unwrap their gift and are blown away by what they now have just received.

New Angus Young Signed AC DC Limited Edition Memorabilia Framed

Signed Memorabilia is the ultimate gift. It means something, it’s special, it comes with a certificate of authenticity and most importantly it will increase in value. Most gifts whether for Birthday, Christmas or just because you love and respect the person don’t increase in value as time goes on but Signed Memorabilia does. Take for instance the sad and untimely death of basketballer Kobe Bryant the demand for his memorabilia skyrocketed as well as the prices the day after his death.

Same as when Michael Jackson Passed away his signed memorabilia increased by thirty percent minutes after details of his death were announced. My Father is a huge Beach Boys fan and I recently bought him a framed picture signed by Mike Love and Brian Wilson, he was so happy when he opened it he immediately put it up on his wall in the living room and I get to see it every time I visit and remember the joy it gave him.

I also know the remaining members of The Beach Boys days are sadly numbered and I will definitely telling my father to get the items valued. Your Love One or friend will be so surprised and happy with this amazing gift and will show it off in their home for many years to come.

If signed memorabilia is out of your price range you can also find awesome memorabilia on eBay and Amazon that will also make a perfect gift for any AC/DC fan.

AC/DC

Formed in Sydney Australia, in 1973 by Malcolm Young explains Malcolm’s passion for music after watching his older brother George Young find success in his band the Easybeats. George while touring the world with the Easybeats would send Malcolm albums from England and America. All Malcolm wanted to do was play in a band.

Malcolm’s youngest brother Angus was becoming a gifted guitar player himself, always practicing as soon as he got home from school. The brothers first played together on New Years eve as AC/DC, a name their sister Margaret suggested after she saw the letters on her sewing machine. Dave Evans was the bands lead singer at the time but that would be short-lived as Malcolm thought Dave was a little bit to glam for a rockn’ roll band.

The band arrived in South Australia and was introduced to Bon Scott by Vince Lovegrove who was promoting the band in Adelaide. Bon was driving the band around for Vince while they were playing the pubs in Adelaide and Vince organized an Audition for Bon after hearing the band was looking for a new singer.

Ronald Belford Scott, like the Youngs was born in Scotland and migrated to Australia with his family when he six in 1952. The family eventually settled in Fremantle in Western Australia near Perth. Bon had a reputation in Fremantle as a bad boy spending a short time in a Juvenile detention center. He had tattoos and could fight.

Bon Scott played drums at school and started his own band, the Spektors in 1966. Bon joined Vince Lovegrove and formed The Valentines which both members shared in the singing responsibilities. After some minor success with The Valentines, Bon joined a popular Adelaide band called Fraternity.

Fraternity, as good as they were just couldn’t find success and a very drunk Bon Scott had an argument with a Fraternity band member in an Adelaide pub, drunk and angry Bon sped off on his motorcycle and was seriously injured spending 3 days in a coma and 3 weeks in a hospital bed. Bon was out of work. After recovering from his injuries he was working for Vince doing odd jobs when Vince introduced Bon to AC/DC.

At first Malcolm and Angus thought Bon Scott was too old to be in the band, Bon was 27 and married already been in 2 previous bands and was a hard drinker. He was considered a dinosaur to the Young brothers, but as soon as Bon started singing to the boys he was in the band.

Their first album High Voltage was recorded in November 1974 and after an appearance on Countdown where Bon dressed as a schoolgirl to go with Angus’s trademark schoolboy uniform the album became a hit overnight in Melbourne for the band.

The band began a relentless tour around Australia before trying to find success in England and Europe. With three more albums under their belt and a larger following AC/DC in 1978 were starting to see some real success. Bon Scott was still drinking hard but his drinking never interfered with his performance so no one took any mind to it.

The Highway to Hell album was a major breakthrough for the band after collaborating with producer Mutt Lange the album hit the US charts. In 1980 after a heavy night of drinking in London, Bon was left in a friends’ car and was found dead the next day after choking on his own Vomit. He was 33 years old.

After the death of Bon, the band was now looking for a new singer. There was a few candidates on the list, but it was Brian Johnson that impressed the Young boys the most. In the book the story goes that Bon had actually seen Brian sing with his old band Geordie in London one night. During the show Brian had an epileptic fit which Bon thought was part of the show old told his friends’ if he was to ever die he wants to replaced by that singer.

Brian turned up for the audition not actually knowing it was with AC/DC, he was quite surprised when he found out who it was for. After singing a few songs they departed and Brian was asked to join them for a second rehearsal, that’s when the boys asked him to join the band. With their new singer the band went to the Bahamas to work on Back in Black. Recorded over 7 weeks Back in Black would become AC/DC’s highest selling album and would see the band sellout stadiums the world over.

Memorabilia is all about the Nostalgia and theres so much different types of Memorabilia that you can find. When it comes to AC/DC Memorabilia theres no shortage of choice. On eBay alone you can find everything from vintage concert posters to Tour Jackets and T shirts and even limited edition professionally taken photos.

On Amazon you can find Custom Framed Gold Plated LPs, Wall Clocks and of course Promo Posters, Concert Memorabilia and much much more. All these items are great and will make the perfect gift. They look good displayed in the home or on the wall and will put a smile on anyones face, but they will very rarely increase in value and they don’t have that personal touch that Signed Memorabilia has.

Unfortunately Signed Memorabilia can be pricey and is more suited as an investment than a gift. In saying that though if you can get a group to chip in, signed memorabilia would make the ultimate gift that someone could cherish for many years to come. 1. I came across your website quite by accident. I am guessing you are a bit of a supporter of all things Rock and Roll.

If I may, I would like to congratulate you on your incredibly detailed information about AC/DC and the history behind the band. I had absolutely no idea of all the previous detail. Your article had me hooked from the outset.

My partner is a huge fan of AC/DC together with another Aussie rock band and I can think of no finer Christmas present than to find signed memorabilia, gift wrap it and await the happy shrieks upon opening . A ridiculously inspired idea and I hope other readers will see how this article may help solve the yearly “what can I get for the old man” (or the new man) Christmas present question.

I found the article well written and am intrigued to head over to your You Tube channel.

Once again thank you and what a happy accident it was landing on your website

  2. Hey there!

AC/DC… or how else we may call them: Oldies and Goldies!

This is an educative post for AC/DC fans. Their music from the 70s still has a message after all these decades that passed. Like Beatles’ music, their hits stay in history. And they are also a symbol and a reason of pride for Australia.

    Best regards, Peter

  3. Wow! AC/DC looks like abbreviations for Alternating Current and Direct Current.

AC/DC has a bitter sweet story. Alcohol is very terrible!

The Young’s siblings seem to inspire me in a way. They all seem to be lovers of music and entertainment. This is exactly how my siblings are. We love music and entertainment.

As a matter of fact, I have a song titled FULL V⚡LTAGE.

  4. Wow! I am big AC/DC follower!! Always wanted to buy some memorabilia from them!!I did not know where to find it! Thanks for showing me the way.

I think you are right it is an investment for two reasons: the emotional value that you keep with you forever; and secondly one day in 5 years you can resell in case you move to a smaller setting,

One question: how can I know that they are authentic?

  6. memorabilia of gospel artist are rare. the Australian rock group is one of the most astonishing transformations in live rock & roll, the hilarious opposite of classic guitar heroism. they flew high but Age began taking its toll on the band in subsequent years, leading to a series of lineup changes. i still believe they are impactful even after a long while. dont you?

    • Hi Benjamin thanks for the comment AC/DC have become a legacy to the world of Rock but I’m afraid that with the recent passing of Malcolm Young they will never be the same again.
