Autographed Memorabilia is the Ultimate Gift
People are always looking for the Ultimate Gift for a friend or family member. What else would make a better gift than something signed by a Sport or Movie star or their favourite Musician or Band. Imagine seeing the look on their face when they unwrap their gift and are blown away by what they now have just received.
Signed Memorabilia is the ultimate gift. It means something, it’s special, it comes with a certificate of authenticity and most importantly it will increase in value. Most gifts whether for Birthday, Christmas or just because you love and respect the person don’t increase in value as time goes on but Signed Memorabilia does. Take for instance the sad and untimely death of basketballer Kobe Bryant the demand for his memorabilia skyrocketed as well as the prices the day after his death.
Same as when Michael Jackson Passed away his signed memorabilia increased by thirty percent minutes after details of his death were announced. My Father is a huge Beach Boys fan and I recently bought him a framed picture signed by Mike Love and Brian Wilson, he was so happy when he opened it he immediately put it up on his wall in the living room and I get to see it every time I visit and remember the joy it gave him.
I also know the remaining members of The Beach Boys days are sadly numbered and I will definitely telling my father to get the items valued. Your Love One or friend will be so surprised and happy with this amazing gift and will show it off in their home for many years to come.
Steve Tyler first encountered Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton after seeing their band The Jam Band in Sunapee, New Hampshire. Steve Tyler was in his own band Chain Reaction as the drummer but was blown away by how raw and aggressive Joe Perry’s playing was. The two bands soon found themselves playing at the same gig in Boston and Steve approached Joe and Tom to form their own band with him as lead singer. Joey Kramer who was the drummer in The Jam Band also joined Steve and they all got a house together in Boston where they rehearsed and got stoned.
Kramer suggested the name Aerosmith for the band and Brad Whitford joined on guitar as the final line up. The band began to play around Colleges in Boston to all the students. The band secured a management deal with David Krebs and Steve Lebur in 1972. Lebur and Krebs worked on organising the President of Columbia, Clive Davis to see the band in New York City and were eventually signed to the label. Aerosmith then began working on their debut album simply titled Aerosmith. I Steve Tyler states how nervous the band was during the recording sessions and that it shows in his vocals.
The album had a minor hit with Dream On but failed to make any major impact. The boys toured relentlessly before working on their second album Get Your Wings in 1974. Still no real signs of success although songs like Seasons of Wither and Lord of the Thighs did show some promise. It wasn’t until the release of Toys in the Attic in 1975 that Aerosmith started seeing progress with their first top 40 hit in Sweet Emotion. They then re-released Dream On which went to number 6 and saw the boys start to fill stadiums and headline major rock festivals.
Drugs become a major topic as Heroin and other stimulants become a major problem within the band. Steve and Joe were named ‘The Toxic Twins’ as effects of drug use began to show on and off the stage. Problems with drugs were evident on their 5th Album ‘Drawer the Line’ and their performances also began to suffer. In 1979 the band began work on Night at the Ruts and during a break in recording Aerosmith went on tour.
It was on this tour in Cleveland that Joe and Tom’s wives got into an argument and Joe’s wife through a glass of milk at Tom’s wife. Tyler confronted Joe about his wife’s behaviour which caused an altercation between the two band member’s and saw Joe leave the band.
Joe Perry then went on to form his new band ‘The Joe Perry Project’ and Aerosmith continued to record Night at the Ruts with new lead guitarist and Joe Perry’s replacement Jimmy Crespo. Aerosmith began another tour but found themselves playing to smaller crowds in smaller venues as their popularity began to diminish.
Steve Tyler’s drug use also began to affect his performance and saw him collapse on stage at a show in Portland, Maine that left him incapable of continuing for the remainder of the night. In the fall of 1980, Tyler was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident, which left him hospitalised for two months, and unable to tour or record well into 1981.
Brad Whitford then left the band during recording sessions of ‘Rock in a hard Place’, being replaced by Rick Dufay. Aerosmith still struggled to fill venues and Steve’s drug use was starting to take its toll on the band.
The Joe Perry Project wasn’t seeing any success so Tim Collins Joe Perry’s manager worked to get the toxic twins back together. The original members reunite and Tim Collins steps in as Aerosmith’s new manager after the departure of Lebur and Krebs. Collins signs the band to Geffen Records and works on cleaning up the members of the band especially Steve Tyler.
The band worked on their new album ‘Done with Mirrors’ but the album failed to see any real success. Steve Tyler went into rehab and the rest of the band followed. Collins also introduced the band to Run DMC to work on a collaboration of the song ‘Walk This Way’ which saw Aerosmith hit new heights after heavy rotation on MTV.
The band released ‘Permanent Vacation’ in 1987 to much acclaim. With hits like Dude looks like a lady, Rag Doll and Angel the album was a major hit and the bands highest selling album in over 10 years. Steve Tyler comments how Permanent Vacation was the first album the band ever produced sober.
Aerosmith’s next album Pump was even more successful and featured massive hits like Love in an Elevator, Janie’s got a gun and What it takes. Aerosmith was now back in the limelight and one of the biggest bands in the 90s.
