Why Autographed Memorabilia Is The Ultimate Gift Idea

What A Great Gift Idea

John Lennon Talking Figure

People are always looking for the Ultimate Gift for a friend or family member. What else would make a better gift than something signed by a Sport or Movie star or their favourite Musician or Band. Imagine seeing the look on their face when they unwrap their gift and are blown away by what they now have just received. John Lennon Memorabilia Is The Ultimate Gift Idea for any fan.

John Lennon Signed Memorabilia Makes The Ultimate Gift Idea to any die hard fan. It means something, it’s special, it comes with a certificate of authenticity and most importantly it will increase in value. Most gifts whether for Birthday, Christmas or just because you love and respect the person don’t increase in value as time goes on but Signed Memorabilia does. Take for instance the sad and untimely death of basketballer Kobe Bryant the demand for his memorabilia skyrocketed as well as the prices the day after his death.

Same as when Michael Jackson Passed away his signed memorabilia increased by thirty percent minutes after details of his death were announced. John Lennon’s autograph is extremely rare and quite expensive but John Lennon signed memorabilia will increase in value and makes a great investment.

My Father is a huge Beach Boys fan and I recently bought him a framed picture signed by Mike Love and Brian Wilson, he was so happy when he opened it he immediately put it up on his wall in the living room and I get to see it every time I visit and remember the joy it gave him.

Your Love One or friend will be so surprised and happy with this amazing gift and will show it off in their home for many years to come. I also know the remaining members of The Beach Boys days are sadly numbered and I will definitely telling my father to get the items valued.

Alternatively there is also some cheaper and more affordable John Lennon Memorabilia that can be found on eBay and Amazon. Although most of this type of Memorabilia is more novelty type items that won’t increase in value they still look good and make the perfect gift for any occasion. Things ranging from rare photos, books and even glassware. My favourite though is the picture frame that comes with photos and a plaque containing the history of your favourite band, actor or sport star.

John Lennon

John Winston Lennon was born on the 9th of October 1940 at Liverpool maternity hospital.  His Mother Julia named him John Winston Lennon after his paternal grandfather, John “Jack” Lennon, and Prime Minister Winston Churchill. His Father Alfred was a merchant seaman who was away at the time of his son’s birth.

His Aunt Mimi eventually took full custody of John at the age of Five. John’s Father Frank took John from Mimi when he was six to live with him in Blackpool, but Julia found where they were in Blackpool with her new boyfriend Bobby Dykins and after a heated argument Frank made the young John decide which parent he wanted to be with. He first picked his father but then ran out crying for his Mum when she left in disappointment. She gave him back to Mimi.

Mimi’s home was named Mendips and she took in borders after her husband George passed away, it was around this time that John started to reconnect with his Mum who despite not Living far from Mendips was absent for some many years. Julia would teach John songs on a banjo and Mimi eventually purchased him a guitar. John Lennon struggled at school having undiagnosed dyslexia he ended up at Art school where he started dressing up as a Teddy boy and playing Guitar between classes.

He formed a skiffle group called the Quarrymen with friends in 1956 and began playing around Liverpool. The Quarrymen’s second performance was at church fair in Woolton and that was his first encounter with another kid named Paul McCartney. Paul after listening to the Quarrymen was introduced to John and how John smelt of Alcohol. Paul played twenty flight rock to John on guitar and John was so impressed he asked Paul to join the band.

Paul then suggested a close friend of his George Harrison to join the band as lead guitarist, but John wasn’t interested as George was in John’s eyes to young at the age of only 14. It wasn’t until Paul had suggested to George to play a song called ‘Raunchy’ to John on the upper deck of a double-decker bus that John agreed he could join the band. This was the nucleus of the Beatles. John lost his Mother in a car accident not far from Mendips, he was at Paul’s at the time and struggled with the lost for the rest of his life.

Stuart Sutcliffe who was John Lennon’s Art school friend and who had just sold a painting and had money to buy a bass so he could join the band. Even though, Stuart had no idea how to play he joined the Beatles. After the band had been struggling to make any impact in the clubs of Liverpool, the Beatles through their unofficial manager Allan Williams head to Hamburg where Williams had set up a full time gig for the boys at a venue called the Indra club. The Beatles convinced Pete Best who was a local drummer to join them and they all went to Germany.

While in Germany, they spent many hours playing in the Red light district of Hamburg and  their stripper girlfriends would provide them with prescription pills to keep them going through the night. After some time The Beatles are forced to return to Liverpool, John’s girlfriend Cynthia falls pregnant and  John marries her before their baby Julian is born. John was heartbroken when returning to Hamburg and was informed that his friend Stuart Sutcliffe had died from a brain haemorrhage.

Beatles John Lennon & Neil Aspinall Signed 1968 Publishing Contract

Brian Epstein in 1962 after seeing the Beatles at the Cavern Club in Liverpool and saw potential in the group, asked them if they would like for him to become their manager. Once the paperwork was settled and Brian was officially The Beatles new manager he worked on their image and put them in suits ready for the stage.

Brian eventually got them a record contract with EMI in London and The Beatles teamed up with producer George Martin to start recording. George Martin was not happy with Pete’s drumming and after informing Brian of his concern, The Beatles dropped Pete and asked Liverpool s number one drummer Ringo Starr to join. The Beatles cut their first record in a day with their new drummer and began touring all over Great Britain.

I want to hold your hand was the Beatles first number one in America, so John Lennon and the Beatles performed their first American Tour and Beatlemania took over the U.S. and eventually the world. This is also around the time John becomes a father to Julian but because of his commitments has no time to spend with his wife and son.

Yoko persisted in getting John’s attention over a course of sometime and eventually while Cynthia was away and John, who was heavily on LSD asked Yoko to visit him and they spent the night together fooling around with John’s recording equipment. John fell in love with Yoko from that time on plotted to get Cynthia to divorce Cynthia and be with Yoko.

The Beatles had a successful career spanning over 10 years with many hit records and were the number one band in the world, after tensions within the band especially between John and Paul, John announced he had enough and is leaving the band. With Yoko by John’s side they were married on 20 March 1969, in Gibraltar on Spain’s south coast. Desperate to live in New York, John and Yoko struggle with American officials to receive citizenship and live permanately in The Dakota, a building looking over Central Park in New York.

John’s breakdown and what is known as the ‘Lost Weekend’ which occurs when Yoko kicks John out and sends him to Los Angeles with May Pang who was working for John and Yoko at the time and wanted May to have a relationship with John. Lennon struggles without Yoko and drinks and loses control the whole time they were apart. He eventually returns to Yoko and they have Baby Sean on the 9th of October (John’s Birthday) 1975.

Mark David Chapman decided that John Lennon was fake and it was his Job to punish John by shooting John Lennon at the Dakota when John and Yoko return from a recording session. He mentions how it was Chapman’s second attempt to kill John Lennon after changing his mind the first time. It was sad to read about the grief and heartbreak Yoko, friend, family and all John’s devoted fans endured after the medical staff were unsuccessful at reviving John.

Mark Chapman’s trial and sentencing for the Murder, while Yoko, Sean and Julian Lennon grieve and try to live their lives without husband and father. John Lennon was more than a great songwriter and talented musician he was also a political activist who wanted the world to live in peace. Why was John shot?  that’s something we probably will never know but he left the world with some of the greatest rock song that generation after generation appreciate.

  3. Thank you so much for the awesome post! I love the music of John Lennon, and I know there were people who lost respect for him after leaving the Beatles, but he still had some great songs after leaving.  I would love to get some of the memorabilia from John Lennon, like a signed album.  I’ll have to check it out!

    • Hi Jessie thanks for the comment. John Lennon was my favourite Beatle. His solo career after leaving The Beatles just showed how talented he really was and what a great songwriter he was.
