What A Great Gift Idea

Marilyn Monroe – Workout Photo Collage

People are always looking for the Ultimate Gift for a friend or family member. What else would make a better gift than something signed by a Sport or Movie star or their favourite Musician or Band. Imagine seeing the look on their face when they unwrap their gift and are blown away by what they now have just received. What a great gift idea, Hey!

Al Pacino Signed Memorabilia Makes The Ultimate Gift Idea to any die hard fan. It means something, it’s special, it comes with a certificate of authenticity and most importantly it will increase in value. Most gifts whether for Birthday, Christmas or just because you love and respect the person don’t increase in value as time goes on but Signed Memorabilia does. Take for instance the sad and untimely death of basketballer Kobe Bryant the demand for his memorabilia skyrocketed as well as the prices the day after his death.

Your Love One or friend will be so surprised and happy with this amazing gift and will show it off in their home for many years to come. Alternatively there is also some cheaper and more affordable Rolling Stones Memorabilia that can be found on eBay and Amazon. Although most of this type of Memorabilia is more novelty type items that won’t increase in value they still look good and make the perfect gift for any occasion. Things ranging from rare photos, books and even glassware. My favourite though is the picture frame that comes with photos and a plaque containing the history of your favourite band, actor or sport star.

Who Is Marilyn Monroe?

Marilyn Monroe, her original name was Norma Jeane Mortenson, she was born on the 1st of June, 1926. Marilyn Monroe poster girl and an American actress, model, and singer. Famous for her roles as comedic sexy blonde characters, she became one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950s and early 1960s and was a strong figure of the era’s changing attitudes towards sexuality. Although she was a sought after actress for only a decade, her films grossed $200 million by the time of her unexpected death in 1962. More than half a century later, she continues to be a major popular culture icon.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Monroe spent most of her childhood in foster homes and an orphanage and was married by the age of 16. Marilyn met a photographer from the First Motion Picture Unit while working in a factory as part of the war effort during World War II, and began a successful pin-up modeling career. The work led to film contracts with Twentieth Century-Fox and Columbia Pictures.

After a series of minor film roles, she signed a new contract with Fox in late 1950. Over the next two years, she became a popular actress with roles in several comedies, including As Young as You Feel and Monkey Business, and in the dramas Clash by Night and Don’t Bother to Knock. Monroe past came back to haunt her when it was revealed that she had posed for nude photos before she became a star, but the story did not damage her career and instead resulted in increased interest in her and her films.

By 1953, Monroe was one of the biggest and most marketable Hollywood stars, she had leading roles in the film Niagara, which focused on her sex appeal, and the hit comedies Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and How to Marry a Millionaire, which established her star image as a “dumb blonde”. The same year, her images were famously used as the centerfold and on the cover of the first issue of the men’s magazine Playboy.

Although she played a significant role in the creation and management of her public image throughout her career, she was disappointed and angry when she was typecast and underpaid by the studio. She was briefly suspended in early 1954 for refusing a film project but returned to star in one of the biggest box office successes of her career, The Seven Year Itch released in 1955.

When the studio was still reluctant to change Monroe’s contract, she started her own film production company with photographer Milton Greene in 1954. She dedicated 1955 to building the company which was simply named Marilyn Monroe Productions and began studying method acting at the Actors Studio. In late 1955, Fox offered her a new contract, which gave her more control and a larger salary and which Marilyn happily accepted.

Her subsequent roles included a critically acclaimed performance in Bus Stop in 1956 and her first independent production, The Prince and the Showgirl in 1957. Monroe won a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her role in Some Like It Hot in 1959, a critical and commercial success. Her last completed film was the drama The Misfits 1961.Monroe’s troubled private life received much attention. She struggled with addiction, depression, and anxiety. Her second and third marriages, to retired baseball star Joe DiMaggio and playwright Arthur Miller, were highly publicized and both ended in divorce.

On August 4, 1962, she died at age 36 from an overdose of barbiturates at her home in Los Angeles. Although Monroe’s death was ruled a probable suicide, several conspiracy theories have been proposed in the decades following her death. Marilyn Monroe Signed Memorabilia is extremely expensive because of it’s short supply. In saying that though if you do have deep pockets it could make a great investment. Still, there is plenty of unsigned Marilyn Monroe Merchandise that can be found which will make the ultimate gift or something to add to your collection which won’t break the bank.

  1. Hello, I really want to first appreciate your effort in putting this great website together and writing this article. getting a good memorabilia from hollywood collectibles has proven to be difficult over time. marilyn monroe was one of my favourite actors and getting a memorabilia of her would be awesome

    • Hi Benny thanks for the positive comment I glad you like the site. I hope you find something you like from Marilyn Monroes catalogue. She was an amazing actor and her legacy lives on.

  2. This was a very interesting read about Marilyn Monroe. I learned some things that I did not know like she started her own production studio. That was interesting. I am not a collector of any memorabilia as such, but I was wandering how can you tell that it is authentic and not a forgery? Technology is getting better and better and thieves are gaining more knowledge in the art of fake reproductions so a certificate of authenticity may be a fake as well.

    • Hi thanks for the positive comment unfortunately it is true about fakes being sold by dealers but what you need to understand is that a credible dealer stands by his merchandise and the certificate is proof that the item is authentic. If a dealer was to sell a fake item then that would ruin their reputation and business. You do have to do your research, but if the dealer has a good reputation and has been in the business for many years than I would say they are very cautious with what they sell.
