Memorabilia is the Ultimate Gift Idea
People are always looking for the Ultimate Gift for a friend or family member. What else would make a better gift than something signed by a Sport or Movie star or their favourite Musician or Band. Imagine seeing the look on their face when they unwrap their gift and are blown away by what they now have just received.
Signed Memorabilia is the ultimate gift. It means something, it’s special, it comes with a certificate of authenticity and most importantly it will increase in value. Most gifts whether for Birthday, Christmas or just because you love and respect the person don’t increase in value as time goes on but Signed Memorabilia does. Take for instance the sad and untimely death of basketballer Kobe Bryant the demand for his memorabilia skyrocketed as well as the prices the day after his death.
Same as when Michael Jackson Passed away his signed memorabilia increased by thirty percent minutes after details of his death were announced. My Father is a huge Beach Boys fan and I recently bought him a framed picture signed by Mike Love and Brian Wilson, he was so happy when he opened it he immediately put it up on his wall in the living room and I get to see it every time I visit and remember the joy it gave him.
I also know the remaining members of The Beach Boys days are sadly numbered and I will definitely telling my father to get the items valued. Your Love One or friend will be so surprised and happy with this amazing gift and will show it off in their home for many years to come.
Alternatively there is also some cheaper and more affordable Memorabilia that can be found on eBay and Amazon. Although most of this type of Memorabilia is more novelty type items that won’t increase in value they still look good and make the perfect gift for any occasion. Things ranging from rare photos, books and even glassware. My favourite though is the picture frame that comes with photos and a plaque containing the history of your favourite band, actor or sport star.
Nikki Sixx bassist and Tommy Lee drummer began rehearsing together in January 1981 after leaving their previous bands. Mick Mars soon joined them after his ad that advertised himself as a “Loud, rude and aggressive guitar player available”was answered and he got the auditioned. Lee also suggested Vince Neil as a candidate to become their new singer. Tommy Lee and Vince Neil went to the same school together and Neil joined the band. The boys still didn’t have a name for the band and Mars suggested Motley Crue as he heard the phrase years before and always thought it sounded good.
The band were soon making a name for themselves in Hollywood and had a strong following at the Whiskey on the Sunset strip. They were also becoming notorious for their late night parties at the house they shared near the strip. The members never seem to have any concern for their health and well-being and had little respect for anyone that came into contact with the band. Allen Coffmen had noticed the stir the band was causing at the whiskey and decided to get the band in the studio to produce their first album. Too Fast For Love was released in November 1981 on the bands own label Leathür Records. The band then embarked on their first tour in Canada.
Motley Crue began to see success with the help of MTV. ‘Shout at the Devil’ was released in 1983 and the album sold well. Motley Crue started to feature heavily on MTV to promote the album. They also went on tour with Ozzy Osbourne as his opening act. In the book the members tell of the bad influence Ozzy had on the band and of Ozzy’s crazy antics while on tour. In the book they recalled how Ozzy licked up Nikki Sixx’s urine and snorted a trail of ants. The band was becoming more unpredictable both onstage and off as well. On tour, they would trash their rooms, setting fire to their beds and furniture.
Nikki Sixx recalls after an early show at a festival a female fan climbed through a window to have sex with him. The book goes into detail about Vince Neil’s fatal head on car crash that killed Hanoi Rocks drummer Nicholas ‘Razzle’ Dingley. Vince was driving back from a Liquor run and was charged with DUI and manslaughter.
He was sentenced to 30 days in jail but only served 18 none of the other members showed their support during this time. Nikki Sixx was lost in his heroin addiction and although the bands careers were on fire around this time their drug use and out of control lifestyles were causing increasing problems within the band. In the book the members touch on the endless grind of touring and how drugs were an increasing problem. Nikki Sixx overdosed in December 1987, and died for 2 minutes before being revived by a paramedic. This incident would later inspire the hit song ‘Kick start my heart’.
The bands management eventually had to take action and refused to allow Motley Crue to tour Europe and instead ordered the boys to enter rehab and clean up. Once, cleaned Motley Crue then entered the studios to produce their biggest album Dr Feelgood. Dr Feelgood went to number one and saw the bands popularity rise to new heights.
Vince shares his pain about his daughter’s illness, commenting on watching his 4 year old daughter Skyler’s fight with cancer and eventually dying. Vince understandably went into dark place and soon left the band and went through a divorce. He was drinking uncontrollably just to cope with the pain of losing a daughter. Vince went in and out of rehab without much success and it wasn’t until he learn to deal with his grief head on did he start to find his way from the drink and drugs.
In 1997 Vince reunited with the band. They then released their new album ‘Generation Swine’ but the album never saw the success their previous album Dr Feelgood saw. The band’s contract had expired with Elektra records and the members now had full control of their music. In 1999 Tommy Lee left the band to pursue other avenues and Motley Crue paused for a while.
